MFI 2022 - Call For Papers

We are happy to announce that the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Multisensor Fusion and Integration will be held at the Cranfield University in the United Kingdom on the 20-22 September 2022. Cranfield University is a British postgraduate public research university specialising in science, engineering, design, technology and management. It is one of the UK’s leading engineering universities and has a range of facilities including the Multi-user environment for autonomous vehicles, the aerospace autonomy laboratory, the intelligent mobility engineering centre, and many more.

The main theme for this conference is ‘Taking Multi-Sensor Fusion to the Next Level: From Theory to Applications’. We invite full papers within the key topics of sensors, theory, algorithms, applications and performance assessment.

The UK has begun to lift many of the COVID19 restrictions. We are currently planning to hold this event in person, however we will continue to monitor the situation and we are preparing to introduce remote sessions if this is needed to ensure the successful and inclusive delivery of MFI 2022. If you are only able to deliver a paper remotely, please contact us so that we may plan accordingly.

Important Deadlines:

- Full paper submissions on the 29th June 2022 (Extended) with notification of acceptance on 19th August 2022 and final paper submission on 9th September 2022

- Special session proposals on 15th June 2022 (Extended) with notification of acceptance on 19th Jun 2022

- Tutorial and workshop proposals on 15th  June 2022 (Extended) with notification of acceptance on 19th Jun 2022

Official information on Entry into the United Kingdom can be found here (https://www.gov.uk/uk-border-control) and for England specifically here (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-england-from-another-country-during-coronavirus-covid-19).

Paper submissions are done at https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/IEEEMFI2022. MFI 2022 proceedings will be published by the IEEE in IEEEXplore.

Paper Submission

Prospective authors are invited to submit papers electronically via the submission system at the conference website www.mfi2022.com. Paper templates and submission instructions will also be provided there. Submitted papers should be no more than six pages in length. There will be a charge for each additional page beyond six pages. An author of every paper has to register and all papers have to be approved for public release prior to submittal. Papers accepted will be published at IEEExplore.

Important Deadlines:

Deadlines are kept up to date on www.mfi2022.com.

Call for Special Sessions

The Organizing Committee of the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Multisensor Fusion and Integration (MFI 2022) is welcoming proposals for Special Sessions. We are particularly interested in topics related to emerging technologies and fields related to the application of multisensor fusion and integration.

Each special session proposal should include an overview of the topic that identifies the relevance of the topic and introduces the papers to be presented. Additionally, special session proposals are more likely to be accepted if they include at least 4 invited papers.

Submission information

The following information must be included in the special session proposal:

  • Title of the proposed special session

  • Session abstract, including the significance of the topic and the rationale for the proposed session

  • Names and affiiations of the organizers, including brief bio and contact information

  • List of invited papers including a tentative title, author list and a short abstract for each paper

Submission details are given on the submission detail page.

Important Deadlines:

Deadlines are kept up to date on the home page of www.mfi2022.com.

Call for Tutorials and Workshops

The Organizing Committee of the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Multisensor Fusion and Integration (MFI 2022) is welcoming proposals for Tutorials and Workshops on the theory and application of multi-sensor fusion and integration. It is possible to submit a proposal for both a tutorial and workshop on the same paper, but each submission should be independent.

Themes and Topics

Proposals for tutorials and workshops should cover the same main topics included within the MFI2022 main themes (see the home page on www.mfi2022.com). In order to encourage emerging topics in the field, the organising comittee would also welcome proposals for workshops and tutorials that focus on the application of multisensor fusion to new application domains such as cybersecurity, autonomous roboticics and deep learning.

Submission Detail

Tutorials should cover a single topic in detail and should present the state of the art about a frontier topic, enabling attendees to fully appreciate the current issues, main schools of thought and possible application areas. Honoraria are paid to all tutorial speakers. The honorarium is made up of a basic amount plus a variable bonus. The bonus is directly taken from the tutorial fees and thus proportional to the number of attendees. If a tutorial is given by multiple speakers, the honorarium for their tutorial is shared among all speakers.

Workshops complement the main MFI 2022 conference by giving groups of people the opportunity to hold a small “microconference” as part of the MFI 2022 conference. Workshops can vary in length but they always share key points of the technical program (such as plenary talks) and social events (such as the banquet) with the main conference. Exact workshop paper submission and author notification due dates are at the discretion of workshop organizers but must fit in the main conference time-line.

Tutorial and workshop proposals should not exceed 2 pages and should contain the following information:

  • Title of the proposed tutorial/workshop

  • Duration (3 hours, 6 hours, or 9 hours)

  • Intended audience and prerequisites for the attendees’ background knowledge

  • Description of the tutorial, including the learning objectives and a short summary of the material to be presented

  • Biographical sketch(es) of the instructor(s) including previous lecture and tutorial/workshop experience

Submission Instructions

Submission details are given on the submission detail page.

Call for Industry Papers

This year we will include a dedicated industry session on the final day of the conference (22nd September 22). Many advances in the field of Multi-sensor data fusion are achieved outside of the traditional academic domain. However, for many researchers in industry it is difficult to dedicate the time necessary to write a full paper. Therefore, we will hold an dedicated industry session and invite researchers from industry to submit an abstract for presentation at the event, without publication of the paper. This will provide an opportunity for researchers in indusrtry to socialise their research and enhance their career development.

Submission details are given on the submission detail page.
